Sheikh Kalid Yasin is one of the most influential Muslims in dawah today. He has assisted nearly 27,000 non-Muslims in taking Shahada through means of awareness and research in the diverse belief systems of the world. After several years of applying his techniques and knowledge he has developed a systemized dawah program with the intention of it being implemented by all Muslims across the world as a universal way to spread the message of Islam. The program is manifested in a three-part workshop, each being eight hours in duration, including lecture, interactive models, and role-play. The Muslim community of Chicago, IL has finally given the privilege to attend the introductory portion of this workshop.

Members of the Islamic Society of Northwest Suburbs (ISNS), led by Tunveer Syed, took the privilege to coordinate the event in their Masjid located in Rolling Meadows, IL. Several big name figures from diverse organizations attended, such as Eddie from the highly acclaimed Deen Show, Brother Wajahat Sayeed, president of Al-Furqaan Foundation, a non-profit dawah institution, and Sheikh Muhammad Zamli, president of Riyadhus Saliheen Islamic Institute. At the event, Sheikh Yasin illustrated the fundamentals of his Dawah Training Program. Held over a period of two days, many brothers and sisters came to learn about their obligation as Muslims to educate themselves in spreading the message of Islam. Topics such as how to prepare for a dialogue with non-believers to what arguments to expect from opposition were expounded upon in detail. A comprehensive and practical classification system was introduced for the sake of registering the psychological and educational level of each person that one comes in contact with when performing dawah. This unique frame of reference benefits the da’ee by creating measures and strategies helpful to persuading different levels of individuals. As the students absorbed the general information and different methodologies, they were supplemented with touching stories and personal experiences of the lecturer himself. Sheikh Yasin’s blunt, yet commanding demeanor, which he liked to call “getting real” pulled no punches as he laid out his exact views on not only the deviant beliefs that saturate the world, but Muslims as well. It was a breath of fresh air for the participants and a chance for them to laugh at their own discomfort with issues that were otherwise usually left unspoken.

Near the end of the lecture series, the participants were given constructive guidelines on how to achieve a more progressive mentality towards dawah, education, and the strengthening of the Muslim community. When all was said and done, the overarching theme became apparent: if we Muslims wish to become a greater influence in this world and protect our youth from negative influences, we must assume the responsibility that Allah (swt) and His Messenger (saws) laid on our shoulders. We must direct our funds towards the education of our community and the proliferation of the message of Islam to all persons in the world today. Only by doing this will we make stronger Muslims, more allies, and more opportunities to bring people to Allah (swt).

Throughout the ages, the personality of Christ (Peace Be Upon Him) has been the center of much controversy. Some have called him a false prophet and a liar while some others worship him as God or son of God who came to earth in human form. Similar controversies linger around his mother, the Virgin Mary. Islam on the other hand, considers Christ as a mighty prophet of God, from among His near ones and his mother as an embodiment of piety, chastity and righteousness. Unfortunately, this high reverence of Islam to Christ and the Virgin Mary is often ignored by the mainstream western intelligentsia and largely unknown to the common western populace. This well researched book describes the status of Jesus in divine Islamic texts and will enrich the knowledge of its readers and enlighten them about the true Islamic position on Christ Jesus – The Son of Mary.

The Dilemma of Youths Today

One thousand four hundred and thirty years have passed since our Prophet (pbuh) made the first Hijrah and established the first Islamic state. 1430 years, and today, how have we progressed in being khulafa’ on the earth– better or worse?

History has shown that our struggles have always revolved around bringing about a universally ideal society – the ideal that Islam too, seeks to materialize. Indeed, it has not been a simple mission. Many have struggled and tried only to realize that it takes a collective effort to bring about any type of change.

The Quran reminds us:

“A man receives but only that for which he strives; that his endeavours will be judged, and only then will he receive his recompense in full.” (Quran 53:39-41)

“Truly, God does not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.” (Quran 13:11)

The question is; what are our roles as Muslim youths to motivate those changes? What tools do we need to help guide purway towards establishing a better and ideal society?

Indeed, today’s youth are the future leaders and should not be dismissed. The youth of today need to learn the tools to maintain the dynamic momentum in faith to ensure positive advancement in building a better society.  But WHY, HOW, WHAT and WHERE should we begin?

Our website details our efforts, but in a nutshell – Furqaan Academy is one of the fastest growing most Unique Islamic Schools in the country that is pioneering a curriculum that will be the future of Islamic education in the US. By the grace of Allah, Al-Furqaan Foundation has made tremendous strides since last Ramadhan. As our website details, we have printed about 425,000 copies to-date, of which over 200,000 copies have been delivered DOOR-TO-DOOR. Alhamdullillah about 30 hotels and many hospital chapels carry our translations. Additionally, our translation is one of the most widely used books for Dawah across the country in Masajid, MSAs, prisons, etc. As the testimonials in our website highlight, our door-to-door distribution has created an incredible buzz in many communities across the country. Our dawah websites bookofsigns.org and its Spanish equivalent librodesignos.org offer tremendous content for non-Muslims. Our Furqaan Institute of Qur’anic Education (FIQE.org) offers FREE courses to new Muslims in-house and online. We have launched several sub-projects geared towards the service of the Qur’an here in the US, including a Hifz and Full-time Islamic school with a Qur’an centered education program. All this has been made possible by the generous donations of people like you.

As you are already aware, Al-Furqaan Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit nation-wide charitable dawah organization based in Chicago. As an organization of the Qur’an, our main focus is to Insha’Allah deliver a copy of the translation of the Qur’an to every household, every hotel room, every hospital room, every dormitory and every retirement home in America. By delivering the message of Islam to others we will Insha’Allah at least turn the negative stereotypes into positive feelings; and, if Allah wills, the people He chooses will be guided.

InshaAllah for every $100 we deliver 50 copies. For $1,000 we deliver 500, for $10,000…and so on. This year again we are at your doorsteps, asking for your support. We understand there are many Islamic causes, and each one of them is important in their own right. Since this is the month of Qur’an, we feel it’s natural to support the cause of Qur’an in this month.

One thing we have learnt from our project so far is that history can change, and we are all in a position to help that change happen. By the Grace of Allah, more Non-Muslims are reading Qur’an today then ever before. The Qur’an, as it has throughout history is proving itself to be the true miracle it is.
